The "Guajiros" series immerses the viewer in the hushed, authentic heart of Cuba’s celebrated tobacco heartlands. My lens moves from the sprawling, sun-drenched fields of vibrant green leaves to the cavernous, rustic curing barns where the true agricultural alchemy occurs. Here, thick, fleshy leaves are carefully transformed into golden-brown, fragile harvests, hung in rhythmic rows that fade into the deep, dramatic shadows of rough-hewn wooden rafters. It is a visual journey defined by raw earth, remarkable patience, and the quiet intimacy of an age-old farming tradition.

Yet, the true soul of this series is undeniably human. Beyond the agricultural craft, I sought the quiet dignity of the campesinos who have cultivated these lands for generations. Whether capturing the stoic, weathered gaze of an elder seated against a dark wooden porch, or the practiced, serene concentration of women methodically sorting and lifting heavy foliage in the gloom of the drying shed, their faces tell a story of tireless devotion. These portraits reveal a profound resilience-an enduring pride and an unshakable connection to the Cuban soil that withstands both the relentless sun and the shifting tides of time.
